The Iberian pig sector gathers in Jerez de los Caballeros to celebrate a decade of the Porc d’Or Awards

The 10th edition of the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards will bring together more than 400 professionals from the pork sector in one of the locations historically linked to Iberian pig production: the Alcazaba of Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz).
The gala, organized by the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), along with ASICI and CEVA Animal Health as co-organizers, will recognize the work of the country’s most outstanding farms and will once again become a meeting point for producers, companies, veterinarians, technicians, researchers, and institutional representatives from across the Iberian pig value chain.
These nationwide awards are based on BDporc, the leading data platform for analyzing technical and production data for Iberian pigs in Spain, managed by IRTA.
41 nominated farms compete for the 32 awards
A total of 41 farms are vying for this year’s Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards, following an analysis by the technical jury based on 2025 technical and production data recorded in BDporc and various indicators related to production efficiency, longevity, farrowing rate, health, animal welfare, the environment, and biosecurity conditions.
Castilla y León leads the nominations with 40 applications distributed among 21 farms, followed by Extremadura, with 24 nominations corresponding to 14 farms. Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Valencian Community complete the list of regions with farms nominated in this edition.
In addition to the technical categories, the Special Awards will be presented at the gala, among which the ASICI Porc d’Or Ibérico Award for Excellence in Iberian Acorn-Fed Pigs stands out as a new addition, joining the Porc d’Or Ibérico Diamond Award, the MAPA Porc d’Or Ibérico Sustainability Award and the CEVA Animal Health Porc d’Or Ibérico One Health Award.
A gala in a historic setting
The gala will combine technical and industry recognition with various networking opportunities for attendees. The reception will take place at the Alcazaba of Jerez de los Caballeros and will include a welcome drink, a photocall, and live music before the gala begins in the historic venue’s amphitheater. Afterwards, attendees can enjoy a cocktail dinner and networking opportunities with industry professionals.
Registration for the gala remains open through the official BDporc website (bdporc.irta.es). Attendance requires prior registration and confirmation from the organizers.
