What do the d’Or farms have in common?
The d’Or farms stand out for their sustainability, biosecurity, and animal welfare. A key element in all of them is their team and the role of the farm manager: demanding, passionate about their animals and their work, organized, with a strong drive for improvement, and excellent management and staff motivation skills.

Farms White Coat
Ponte Coirós (Coirós, A Coruña) stands out for its high productive efficiency maintained over time, its high survival rate of suckling piglets, its balanced herd size, the meticulous handling of animals in all phases of production, and the high professionalism of its human team. This success is complemented by rigorous data recording and clear operating and biosecurity protocols in all areas of the facility. The farm keeps sows with intact tails, providing them with straw bedding during gestation and soft sawdust flooring in the infirmary.
El Cerruco (San Esteban de Gormaz, Soria) boasts excellent biosecurity, health status, and animal welfare measures. Its free-range farrowing system, with ample space for the animals, is particularly noteworthy. The farm also excels in its integrated management of the farm and its relationship with the environment, its use of renewable energy, and its water optimization.
Laguarres – Agropecuaria del Isábena (Laguarres, Huesca) boasts excellent production figures, the result of impeccable management protocols, biosecurity measures, and facilities, as well as the high level of training and motivation of the farm team. They maintain a holistic One Health approach across all aspects of the farm, where veterinarians and livestock farmers work closely together.
Bendoiro (Bendoiro Lalín, Pontevedra) stands out for the excellent joint work between the veterinarian and the farm manager to improve the health of the animals, the biosecurity measures, cleaning and disinfection, their meticulous vaccination plan, as well as a strict control of the entry of external animals. The positive work environment is also noteworthy, a result of good working conditions and the training and motivation of the staff.
Sat 4835 Urra-Zurucuáin (Zurucuáin, Navarra) has excellent technical and productive results. Thanks to the meticulous and individualized management of the sows and their litters, they achieve good piglet survival rates during lactation despite high farrowing prolificacy, leading to outstanding numerical productivity. The optimal control of feeding and environmental conditions is also noteworthy.
Iberian Farms
Covel Boceguillas (Boceguillas, Segovia) carries out meticulous handling of the animals and their data. This farm boasts consistently high production efficiency, with excellent figures for farrowing rates, live births, and longevity, as well as optimal herd size. It also stands out for its implemented energy reuse and management practices, and the exceptional professionalism of its team.
Las Abiertas – Hnos. Viceira Puertas (Madrigalejo, Cáceres) stands out for its excellent biosecurity, cleanliness and health status of its animals. It makes very good use of water resources and has a comprehensive manure management system using a solid-liquid separation plant and applying the treated manure to the farm’s own land. Also noteworthy are the spacious areas with excellent enrichment and outdoor access, and the meticulous management of the facilities, including continuous improvement initiatives such as the use of free-range farrowing pens.
La Ensancha (Fuente de Cantos, Badajoz) stands out for the collaborative work between the veterinarian and the farmer in managing the farm, reflected in its meticulous vaccination plan, appropriate genetic control, and effective biosecurity and hygiene measures. Thanks to all of this, this partnership has achieved an exceptionally high health status, prudent use of antibiotics, and a high survival rate for both sows and piglets.
The Dehesa del Rey estate (Cardeña, Córdoba) is an example of the preservation of traditional Iberian production linked to a dehesa (pastureland) with an unsurpassed level of conservation. Its excellent management of breeding stock, tailored to the estate’s carrying capacity, is particularly noteworthy. It boasts outstanding animal welfare, effective control of inbreeding, and minimizes environmental impact by adjusting production to the estate’s carrying capacity.
