Granjas d’Or: bringing the excellence of pig farming to the public
BDporc has launched a new section on its website, Granjas d’Or – BDporc!, aiming to bring the pig farming sector closer to the public and highlight the professionalism of the people working within it. Through “Granjas d’Or” (Gold Farms), we want to showcase the excellent work of pig farmers and acknowledge their effort and commitment to continuous improvement in areas such as animal health and welfare, biosecurity, sustainability, precision farming, and worker well-being and training.
This “Granjas d’Or” section highlights farms that stand out for their high standards of sustainability, biosecurity, and animal welfare. Furthermore, they all share a fundamental common denominator: their workforce. A key figure here is the farm manager—someone who is exacting, organized, and passionate about their animals and work, driven by a desire to improve and possessing excellent skills in staff management and motivation. That is why, in the “Gente d’Or” section, BDporc gives a voice to some of these individuals who are committed to and motivated by achieving excellence in pig production.
Finally, the “Manejo d’Or” section offers an overview of best practices and improvements to facilities and equipment routinely implemented on commercial farms to enhance animal quality of life, increase efficiency, and minimize environmental impact. These strategies are pillars that ensure animal welfare and health, biosecurity, and the sustainability of pig production, playing a crucial role in the circular economy and the value chain. With this initiative, BDporc aims to strengthen the sector’s public image through transparency, knowledge sharing, and by showcasing the professionalism of the pig farming industry to the general public.
