Jerez de los Caballeros and Santiago de Compostela will host the Porc d’Or Ibérico and Porc d’Or de capa blanca awards ceremonies in 2026, highlighting the leadership and trajectory of the pork sector in both territories.
The Porc d’Or Ibérico and Porc d’Or White Pig Awards ceremonies will be held this year in Jerez de los Caballeros and Santiago de Compostela, respectively, highlighting the leadership and track record of the pork sector in both regions. These competitions recognize the technical excellence, innovation, and commitment of the Iberian and white pig farming sectors, awarding prizes to the country’s most outstanding farms.
The Porc d’Or Ibérico awards return to Extremadura, this time to the town of Jerez de los Caballeros (Badajoz). With a long-standing tradition in Iberian pig production, Jerez de los Caballeros is a strategic location to showcase the work of the sector. The 10th Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards gala will take place at the Castle of Jerez de los Caballeros on June 12th.
Galicia, after leading the awards in recent years, will host the Porc d’Or White Coat Awards for the first time. Santiago de Compostela will host the 33rd Porc d’Or Awards ceremony. The gala will take place at the Santiago de Compostela Conference Center on October 30th.
The wheels are already in motion. All the technical and production data for 2025 are being requested and received, and the calls for applications to complete the surveys for the Special Awards will open shortly. Over the next few months, this data will be analyzed, and the first meeting of the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards Jury will take place. At this meeting, the structure of the Awards will be reviewed, and the possibility of adding new prizes will be evaluated. As in previous years, the Jury will analyze the nominated farms based on the consistency and reliability of the information, the evolutionary analysis of the technical and production data, and various key parameters related to animal health, welfare, and environmental impact.
More information and updates regarding the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards, the nominated farms, the registration process, and the specific location of the 10th Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards gala will be announced soon.
Commitment to the sector
Established as one of the leading events in the pig farming sector, the Porc d’Or awards recognize the effort, innovation, and continuous improvement of farms that stand out for their production efficiency, animal health, welfare, and sustainability. These awards also provide an excellent opportunity for networking, exchanging ideas, and strengthening partnerships among industry stakeholders, researchers, and agri-food organizations.
BDporc database
The Porc d’Or awards rely on the technical foundation of BDporc, a service for the Spanish pig farming sector. Its primary objective is to provide a reliable database that allows for the analysis of the pig population in Spain and offers reference information to farms and companies to support their decision-making.
Any farm using any technical-production data management software can join BDporc. Membership in the system is formalized through a contract, in which IRTA guarantees the provision of the agreed-upon services and the confidentiality of the information.
For more information on joining the BDporc database, simply fill out the web form or send an email to bdporc@irta.cat.
Sponsorship and collaborators
The Porc d’Or Awards are organized by IRTA, with the Interprofessional Association and CEVA as co-organizers. These awards are supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, and sponsored and supported by other companies and institutions linked to the pork sector.
In the coming weeks, we will announce who will be joining us for the 2026 Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards, as well as other key details of both events.
