On November 4th, researcher Mariam Pascual, from the Genetics and Animal Breeding Group at IRTA, presented the latest innovations of the BDporc platform during the AGROTEST DIGITAL Lleida Conference. The event took place at the Llotja de Lleida and was organized by the Cajamar Group Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Lleida, Innovacc, and i+Porc.
The event brought together various companies in the sector and researchers who presented different technological advances applied to pig production. Among the innovations presented by Mariam Pascual, the renewal of the BDporc platform stands out, both in its public version and on its intranet. BDporc has updated all processes for data collection, storage, processing, and visualization with the aim of significantly expanding the scope and usefulness of this unique information platform for the pig sector.
One of the most significant advancements is the development of an API for farm management software that allows data to be sent to the platform in real time. The user intranet has also been completely revamped, providing new graphical and query tools for farm analysis and benchmarking. Among other features, users can update and modify their contact information and farm type, as well as complete farm characterization questionnaires to apply for the Porc d’Or awards. BDporc is also working on incorporating new variables into the platform, such as feed consumption, information related to social sustainability, and farm characterization data from public databases, always with the authorization of the farm owners. These improvements are part of the AEI SmartPorc (PID2024-161265OR-I00) and Agrolabs Digital IRTA (co-financed by ERDF funds) projects. The ultimate goal is to calculate and estimate new technical-productive and economic indicators and to make available to BDporc users new benchmarking and decision-making tools aimed at a more efficient and sustainable pig production.
