The Porc d’Or awards aim to encourage and recognize the work of Spanish pork companies in the continuous improvement of the efficiency and quality of Iberian pork production.
The 8th edition of the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards will be held in Córdoba on July 5, 2024. The Córdoba Conference Center has been the setting chosen by IRTA for the awards celebration. More than 450 professionals related to the Iberian pig sector will meet to recognize the good work of the sector and, especially, its farmers, rewarding the best Iberian pig farms in our country.
Registration to attend the 8th edition of the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards on July 5 is open until June 28.
This year a new Special Award is introduced in the Iberian Porc d’Or Awards: the One Health Award from Ceva Salud Animal, main partner of the Porc d’Or Awards. This award seeks to recognize the joint work of farmers and veterinarians who implement innovative measures on their farms to improve animal health with the perspective of ‘One Health’.
This new award will accompany the four Special Awards that have already been awarded in previous editions:
● Porc d’Or Iberico Award for Productivity for the farm that has the maximum number of piglets weaned per productive sow per year.
● Iberian Porc d’Or Award for Outdoor Production for that Iberian farm with animals outdoors that presents a good integration of its production in the environment and compliance with high health, zootechnical and animal welfare standards. .
● The MAPA Iberian Porc d’Or Award for Sustainability awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will be awarded to the farm that stands out above the rest in animal health and well-being and respect for the environment.
● The Iberian Porc d’Or with Diamond, the highest award, which will go to the best farm based on its excellent productive results, its overall management and handling, complying of course with health, zootechnical and animal welfare standards. .
In addition, a total of 36 nominated farms are eligible to win one or more of the gold, silver and bronze Porc d’Or Iberico statuettes, within the corresponding category according to their census, based on three production criteria: Live Births, Birth Rate Births and Longevity.

The Porc d’Or Iberico awards, annual and state-wide, are based on the BDporc, the Pig Reference Data Bank, a tool managed by the IRTA to provide reference information to pig production companies as an element of helps in decision making.
Organized and created by IRTA, these awards for excellence in pig production have Ceva Salud Animal as main partner and the Interprofessional Association of the Iberian Pig (ASICI), which has accompanied the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards since its inception.
During these eight years, the awards have recognized the work, professionalism, effort and extraordinary essential work of hundreds of Iberian pig companies and farms throughout Spain. Awards that are awarded by a jury made up of prestigious personalities in the industry, livestock research and administration.
