The Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) has published on the BDporc website the list of the 34 farms nominated for the 2025 Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards, awards that recognize excellence in Iberian pork production. The event will bring together more than 400 professionals from the Iberian pork sector in one of the historic epicenters of Iberian pork production in Spain: Guijuelo.
A technical jury and an analysis of more than 80 farms
In this 9th edition of the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards, a total of 34 farms have been nominated for one or more of the 32 awards that will be presented during the gala. For this selection, the jury met on April 10, 2025, to analyze the technical and productive data for 2024 from a total of 66,733 Iberian breeding sows, belonging to 84 farms distributed throughout the country, mainly in the regions of Extremadura, Castilla y León, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Murcia. This analysis, which also considered aspects such as population structure, the consistency and evolution of production indicators, animal welfare, health, and biosecurity conditions, has resulted in a total of 65 nominations that reflect the sector’s excellence and commitment to continuous improvement.
Categories and awards
Nominations are grouped into three categories based on farm size (up to 375, between 376 and 900, and more than 901 breeding sows). Within each category, three key technical and production indicators are awarded:
- Productive longevity (piglets weaned per low-grade sow)
- Live births per delivery
- Birth rate
In total, 27 statuettes will be awarded (gold, silver and bronze per indicator and category), in addition to five special prizes.
The nominations for the special awards are divided between Castile and León, Extremadura, Andalusia and Castile-La Mancha.
In addition to the awards for each category, this 9th edition of the Iberian Porc d’Or Awards will present five special awards recognizing key areas of excellence in Iberian pork production. The farms nominated for these awards are being visited by the technical jury, composed of industry experts, who will evaluate the nominations on-site and select the winners.

An event that promotes innovation in the Iberian pork sector

They are based on data collected by BDporc, the leading technical and production platform that analyzes the performance of Iberian pig farms in Spain.
Thanks to the involvement of companies committed to innovation and health, such as Farm Faes, IFR, OPP group, Sabdseg Banasegur, and Semen Cardona—premium sponsors—the awards continue to grow in prestige and recognition throughout the Iberian value chain.
