On October 24, IRTA will hold the awards ceremony at the Llotja de Lleida Conference Centre, recognizing the technical excellence and commitment of the best white-coated pig farms in Spain.
The 32nd edition of the Porc d’Or Awards will be held at the Llotja Conference Center in Lleida and will bring together more than 1,000 pork sector professionals.
Established as one of the leading events in the pork industry, the Porc d’Or Awards recognize the hard work, innovation, and continuous improvement of farms that stand out for their production efficiency, health, animal welfare, and sustainability. Furthermore, the gala provides an opportunity for industry stakeholders, researchers, and agri-food organizations to meet, exchange ideas, and strengthen alliances.
New developments in the technical criteria for Longevity
One of the main new features of this edition is the update of the technical criteria used to award the Longevity Prize.
Starting with this edition, the Porc d’Or Longevity Award will be based on the percentage of sows that survive their third reproductive cycle, taking into account the stability of the census and the balance of each farm’s population pyramid. This change seeks to highlight the farmer’s efforts to improve farm sustainability in terms of animal welfare and production efficiency.
Join us to be part of the awards
Registration for the 32nd edition of the Porc d’Or Awards will open on September 8th. Those interested can register through the official BDporc website (www.bdporc.irta.es), where all information regarding the awards will also be updated: details of the gala, nominated farms, and news.
The Porc d’Or Awards were founded in 1994 as an initiative of IRTA (Institute for Agrifood Research and Technology) to recognize the efforts of an industry undergoing constant transformation. The awards are based on the technical and production data that farms voluntarily and confidentially provide to the BDporc platform, which is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and ANPROGAPOR. This valuable data allows BDporc, as an observatory, to provide reference values for pork production in Spain.
The nominated farms are selected after a rigorous technical analysis, and the awards are granted by a jury composed of renowned experts from academia, institutions, and the livestock sector itself. These awards aim to incentivize and recognize the work of Spanish pig farms in their commitment to continuous improvement in efficiency, health, animal welfare, and sustainable production.
Gastronomy with the seal of chef Nandu Jubany
The gala dinner for the 32nd edition of these awards will be hosted by chef Nandu Jubany and his team from Jubany Events, winner of the Fuera de Serie Gourmet award for Best Catering in 2021.
Its offering combines quality traditional cuisine with a modern approach, featuring locally sourced produce and carefully prepared dishes. Jubany has several restaurants and event venues in Catalonia, Andorra, the Balearic Islands, and Singapore.
A consolidated recognition, with the support of the sector
The Porc d’Or Awards are organized by IRTA, with the support of the Interprofessional Association of White-Coated Pigs (INTERPORC), and with Ceva Salud Animal as the main partner. It also has the support of several premium sponsors: Farm Faes, IFR Group, OPP Group, Sabdseg Banasegur, and Semen Cardona.
As every year, the gala provides an opportunity for hundreds of pork sector professionals, institutional representatives, researchers, and livestock supplier companies to meet. It will be a unique opportunity to share knowledge, build alliances, and highlight the work of those who drive continuous improvement in pork production in our country.
